Initiative GenericIAM becomes a competence center of the NIFIS e.V. …

• on the 4^th meeting of special interest group GenericIAM on September 27^th. 2006 in Wiesbaden we took the decision to join forces with the Nationalen Initiative für Informations- und Internet-Sicherheit e.V. (NIFIS). From now on we continue our work as the competency center "Identity Management" of the NIFIS.
• The National Initiative for Internet Security (NIFIS e.V.) forms a new competency center to cover topics of the "Identity Management". We consider Identity Management as the holistic management of digital Identities. Our initiative "GenericIAM", launched about one year ago, is now supported by about 20 companies, some of which are listed in the DAX, joined the NIFIS.
• As soon as November the SiG GenericIAM will reassemble as a NIFIS "-CC and an seamlessly continue our work according to our mission. We are happy, that with the NIFIS we have fount the appropriate Organisation for IM. According to Peter Knapp, the chairman of the NIFIS this merger "is an important step for the NIFIS to, as we can take leadership in IM, as we did with other related topics already. As more and more business processes are built around a the digital backbone, IM will be of major importance for our members and the business they represent.
• The NIFIS National Initiative for Internet Security e.V. acts as a task force for the mutual support of commercial companies, to strengthen enterprises in their defence of the increasing threats related to the Internet. To achieve this the NIFIS will provide conceptual frameworks for the defence against attacks from the Internet, in a pragmatic way. Hence the NIFIS acts in the area of information procession in a similar way like automobile associations in the traffic.
